hola. i write to you from la biblioteca en universitat pompeu fabra. my school. its really the only place ill be getting internet. but since ill be spending mucho time here, its not too much of a problem.

my first weekend in barcelona was muy divertido! (very fun) They don't actually start going out til about midnight or so. maybe because they don't eat until 9-10pm! But on Friday, a group of girls that I hang out with (yes, i have some friends) went with a local guy that one of the girls knew from the States and we went to two discotecas. normally im not in to the "club" scene but they were really fun. drinks are very expensive so i was okay with one (which was €8!). but we danced until about 4:30am when we couldn't possibly dance any longer and called it a night. i slept til about 1pm the next day. haha.
that day we had the local take us to ikea. ikea is hard enough to manuever when youre at home but imagine not knowing any of the words and double the people (who dont say excuse me or apologize). it was fun. we were short on time so we literally ran through there (spent too much time at the mall buying clothes at 50% off. haha).
that night when i came back, my roommate was home! she had been doing some traveling so i had not met her yet. what a blessing she is! her room is warm (so she let me sleep with her last night haha), she's been here a semester already so she knows the ropes. not to mention she is very nice. so, i am glad. it makes being at home a little more bearable! (not that we are there too often) went out again that night but just did a lot of walking and ended up at a place where drinks were €11!!!! thats like $15 for one drink. pff. didn't stay there too long.

i started class today. i only have one class because my business class is cancelled until next week. so i have spanish from 10-1230. it seems like its going to be pretty easy since i learned most of it in highschool. which is good and bad. i need the refresher but i was looking to learn some new/more difficult stuff. but i guess i should have tried harder on my placement exam. haha! im sure it will be okay. and my teacher is very nice.

im getting hungry. our señora makes us bocadillos (sandwiches) every day. now this isn't just any old sandy. we're talking full out bagguette with tortilla (if im lucky) or turkey or chorizo or tuna or cheese (ugh) and this tomato spread. they are good but eating a whole bagguette every day will certainly catch up with me.

or will it? i feel like all i do is walk! haha.
well, love and miss you all. i haven't taken too many pics of barcelona so i'll try to get on that and get them all up somewhere. just don't hold your breath
